White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki on Tuesday confirmed that Joe Biden will stop evacuating Americans before August 31 to wind down military presence.

Joe Biden on Tuesday agreed to stick with the August 31 Afghanistan withdrawal deadline after the Taliban threatened “consequences.”

The Taliban on Monday announced they will not extend the August 31 deadline for US withdrawal from Afghanistan.

A reporter asked Psaki if the US has less than a week to extricate Americans trapped in Afghanistan in order to meet the Taliban’s deadline.

“That would be correct. There would be time to wind down the [military] presence,” Psaki said.

Psaki doesn’t even know the exact time of the evacuation deadline.

A reporter asked Psaki: “Does the August 31 deadline end at the end of August 31st, Afghan time or American time? Is it the end of the 30th heading into the 31st?”

“I’ll have to get back to you,” Psaki said.
